Beck: Trump Has Become ‘Symbol Of The Average American’

The announcement on Thursday that a grand jury in Manhattan, New York, voted to hand down charges against former President Donald Trump in a sealed indictment was a moment his many partisan rivals have been waiting to celebrate.

For Trump’s supporters, however, it represented a miscarriage of justice and the further politicization of the criminal justice system.

During a segment of “Tucker Carlson Tonight” shortly after the indictment news broke, conservative radio host Glenn Beck weighed in with his initial reaction.

After lamenting the state of the country under the Biden administration, he concluded that Trump — despite his wealth and status — now serves as a reflection of beleaguered Americans everywhere who are currently struggling to make progress in the United States.

“He is a symbol of the average, everyday guy that keeps getting screwed every single time, [who] watches other people screw up big banks, screw up their companies, and get away with it,” Beck added. “They see people all the time doing stuff that they know if they did they’d be in prison for 20 years.”

Insisting that Trump “has taken arrow after arrow” from his enemies since entering the political realm, Beck pulled out a “Make America Great Again” campaign cap to demonstrate his allegiance.

“And that’s why this is the way the average American feels tonight,” he added.

Aside from the politically motivated criminal charges being pursued against Trump, Beck said there is another major reason he believes ordinary citizens might begin to coalesce around the former president ahead of next year’s election.

“This country is in shambles,” he said. “And there’s going to be a hundred million people that will walk on broken glass and through fire to vote for someone other than this corrupt banana republic administration.”

A number of other prominent conservative politicians and pundits shared Beck’s dim view of the investigation into accusations that Trump made hush money payments to alleged mistresses.

Calling out the Manhattan district attorney by name, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) tweeted: “Alvin Bragg has irreparably damaged our country in an attempt to interfere in our Presidential election. As he routinely frees violent criminals to terrorize the public, he weaponized our sacred system of justice against President Donald Trump.”
