A new report has revealed that Biden administration lawyers are now holding meetings in the White House, which has led many to speculate that the administration has grown concerned about numerous investigations of President Joe Biden and his family initiated by House Republicans.
On Monday, NPR reported that White House lawyers and strategists have been holding meetings in a suite of rooms in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building — an area that was formerly used by the secretary of war.
The White House lawyers may not be talking about war, but they are discussing a battle being fought between the Biden administration and House Republicans, who have launched several investigations into the Biden administration, the Biden family business, and the president himself.
The subjects of these investigations include the president’s son, Hunter Biden, the weaponization of government agencies against conservatives, the pandemic, and Biden’s botched withdrawal from Afghanistan.
One investigation from the House Oversight Committee is already receiving pushback from the Biden administration, as the Treasury Department has refused to provide the committee with 150 Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) flagged by U.S. banks against the Biden family business. As SARs often contain evidence of potential criminal activity, these documents being withheld by the Biden administration are especially concerning.
Oversight Committee chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY) recently demanded that the director of the Treasury Department appear before the committee to testify about the department withholding the SARs.

Meanwhile, as the Biden administration is likely preparing to fight back against the GOP’s investigations, many are speculating as to why it took so long for them to perceive House Republicans’ intentions as a threat.
While the GOP has been speaking out about the corruption of the Biden administration and the Biden family’s shady business dealings for years, they were only able to launch these investigations after regaining control of the House in the 2022 midterms. Though the Biden administration and congressional Democrats appeared confident that they would retain control of both chambers of Congress in the midterms, they should have at least prepared for the potential fallout from GOP lawmakers if they did not.
Despite NPR’s eager attempts to downplay the Republicans’ investigations and instead parrot claims from leftist groups that are calling out the GOP’s supposed “lies” and “hypocrisy,” the outlet does acknowledge that the investigations could cause significant problems for Biden’s reelection.
“If there are hints of corruption or scandal or impropriety, that will undermine the president’s ability to stay in the good graces of the electorate,” Eric Schultz, a political advisor for the Obama administration, told the outlet.
