The State Department has announced the appointment of White House chief of staff Ron Klain’s wife as a special envoy for “biodiversity and water resources.”
Secretary of State Antony Blinken has appointed Monica Medina, the wife of President Joe Biden’s chief of staff, as the Special Envoy for Biodiversity and Water Resources, a newly created position.
Medina is known for her radical left-wing views and ardent support of Biden.
Thanks to everyone for all the good wishes! Thanks most of all to @RonaldKlain for taking me along for the ride! ❤️ And what a ride it has been! I know @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris made a fantastic choice! pic.twitter.com/QAd5BX4OEZ

The special envoy position was created to send a message as “a symbol of Biden’s ‘commitment to resolving the world’s intertwined biodiversity and water crises,’” according to a statement.
“Decades of evidence shows that water security is essential to global efforts to increase equity and economic growth, build inclusive and resilient societies, bolster health and food security, decrease the risk of conflict or instability, and tackle the climate crisis,” the statement noted.
In an interview with The Washington Post, Medina argued that the United States and every nation should be conserving 30% of their land and water in order to preserve the planet.
Biden had previously announced a similar goal, saying that he wishes to conserve a third of America’s land and waters by the year 2030.
Arguing that conservation is an important part of preventing climate change, Medina previously stated: “If we can solve the biodiversity crisis, we’re a long way along the way to solving the climate crisis.”
Medina — the founder of Our Daily Planet, a website about “how climate change is connected to social justice” — is also known for her support for the “Green New Deal” and her constant attacks on former President Donald Trump.

Critics took to Twitter following the announcement of Medina’s new position to point to the obvious Biden administration connections that secured her the job. Many also pointed out that the left-wing media outlets reporting on the news had conveniently forgot to mention her relation to Klain.he left-win
