Biden Campaign Recruits ‘Army Of Influencers’ For 2024 Race

While President Joe Biden hasn’t technically announced his decision to run for reelection, it appears that his team has already begun recruiting an “army” of online “influencers” to aid in his 2024 campaign. The army of influencers may even be given their own “briefing room” at the White House, according to a new report from Axios.

Biden’s campaign is reportedly desperate to appeal to the youth, as the outlet noted that they are seeking to “boost Biden’s standing among young voters who are crucial to Democrats’ success in elections.”

Axios also noted that the influencers are being recruited in an attempt to counter former President Donald Trump’s “massive social media following” if the GOP frontrunner wins the primary.

The report went on to say that Biden’s digital strategy team wants to connect with influencers across the U.S. to help praise the president’s record to those who don’t follow his official social media accounts, or those belonging to the White House and the Democrat Party.

The Biden team has reportedly enlisted the help of four Biden digital staffers — led by Rob Flaherty, who has been named assistant to the president and will hold the same rank as press secretary. These staffers will focus on recruiting influencers and independent content creators who will be on the White House payroll, not the Biden campaign.

The Biden team already has the help of unpaid influencers who work with the White House to push pro-Biden propaganda on social media. According to Breitbart News, “Some ‘unpaid and like-minded’ content creators working with the White House include TikTokers Harry Sisson, who talks about news on the Chinese social media app, and Vivian Tu, who talks about financial topics on the Chinese social media app.”

Speaking with Axios, White House deputy chief of staff Jen O’Malley Dillon discussed the Biden administration’s efforts to “reach young people.”

“We’re trying to reach young people, but also moms who use different platforms to get information and climate activists and people whose main way of getting information is digital,” she said.

According to a Tufts University-Tisch College poll, voters aged 18 to 29 preferred Biden over Trump by a 26-point margin in the 2020 presidential election and preferred Democrats over Republicans by a 28-point margin in the 2022 midterm elections.

Axios’ report also detailed social media influencers’ requests for their own White House briefing room to give them more access to Biden, an idea that is reportedly supported by the Biden administration.

According to the outlet, Sisson had asked the White House: “When are we going to get press briefing passes?”

The influencer then claimed that the White House was “very responsive to it.”

The Biden administration was previously roasted on social media for their last attempt to hire influencers, with critics mocking the videos of a man with false nails and a short skirt documenting his “day in my life as a White house intern.”
