Biden Slammed For Issuing Demand to Privately Owned Gas Stations

President Joe Biden was roasted on Twitter on Saturday after he once again tried to shift blame for record high gas prices — this time blaming gas stations, and demanding that they immediately lower the prices that they are charging at the pump “to reflect the cost you’re paying for the product.”

The president’s ridiculous claim follows a report from NBC News earlier this week which stated that gas stations make “15 cents a gallon on average, according to the National Association of Convenience Stores.”

Biden sent out his demand in the form of a tweet, appearing to claim that during a “time of war and global peril” the privately owned gas stations had some sort of duty to not make a profit.

“My message to the companies running gas stations and setting prices at the pump is simple: this is a time of war and global peril,” the president tweeted. “Bring down the price you are charging at the pump to reflect the cost you’re paying for the product. And do it now.”

The cost of gas has been increasing for most of Biden’s presidency, but members of the administration, Democrat allies, the mainstream media, and Biden himself have all tried desperately to blame the rising prices on everything except the administration’s policies. From greedy oil companies to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the president and his allies have tried every excuse they could find. But the American people haven’t bought into the rhetoric, and it doesn’t look like they’ve fallen for Biden’s latest attempt at shirking responsibility either.

Since taking office, Biden has continued to block drilling efforts, and he hasn’t stopped even though gas prices have hit a record high of $5 per gallon. A new report from the Wall Street Journal this week revealed that the administration “plans to block new offshore oil drilling in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.”

Biden’s demand received a significant backlash and ridicule on social media from politicians, political commentators, and even business leaders.

“My message to the guy running your teleprompter: It’s YOUR fault. Reverse the dozens of executive orders, regulations & agency actions targeting American energy, and gas prices will fall…FAST. #Bidenflation,” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) tweeted.

“Ouch. Inflation is far too important a problem for the White House to keep making statements like this. It’s either straight ahead misdirection or a deep misunderstanding of basic market dynamics,” Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, replied.

“You are responsible for attacking the US energy system since day one, Joseph, which is why we’re now in a recession. Let’s go Brandon!” said YouTuber and author Styx Hexenhammer.

“The @potus is doubling down on his request for ‘gas stations’ to ‘take one for the team’. A complete lack of understanding of how this industry (or any) operates. Margins are pennies per gallon. A 40+ year inflation crisis and this is his solution? Looking forward to November!” responded Dade Phelan, Speaker of the Texas House.

“Textbook gaslighting. Dems are doing everything in their power to raise the price of fossil fuels — a manufactured crisis — then blaming high prices on local gas stations,” wrote author John Durant.

“lol there’s no margin in gasoline. They make their money on the sodas and junk food. This is Franchise 101 level knowledge, which the leader of the free world is lacking,” replied political commentator Mike Cernovich.
