Former President Donald Trump has taken to Truth Social, demanding Vice President Kamala Harris to address concerns about President Joe Biden’s ability to serve. Trump accused Harris of deceiving the public regarding Biden’s mental health and insisted she clarify if Biden is still fit for the presidency.
“Does Lyin’ Kamala Harris think Joe Biden is fit to run the USA for the next six months? She must answer the question. Now it appears Joe is delegating his Presidential Authority to unelected Washington Bureaucrats! He doesn’t even trust his Vice President. WHO IS RUNNING THE COUNTRY?” Trump posted.
Fox News reported that Harris has remained silent on Biden’s fitness to serve. The speculation surrounding Biden’s health has intensified, especially as he has avoided public appearances apart from a phone call to Harris and his campaign team in Delaware.
Reporters have tried repeatedly to get a response from Harris on whether she thinks Biden can continue to lead. She holds the power to invoke the 25th Amendment if Biden is deemed unable to perform his duties.
Biden announced his withdrawal from the presidential race on Sunday via X, releasing a letter explaining his decision. Despite this, he has largely stayed out of the public eye, except for a phone call in which he reassured Harris and the campaign team, saying, “The name has changed at the top of the ticket, but the mission hasn’t changed at all. And by the way, I’m not going anywhere.”
During the call, Biden expressed confidence in his decision to step down and urged the campaign to rally behind Harris as the new candidate for president. Late Monday, Harris secured enough delegates to become the presumptive nominee ahead of the Democratic National Convention, according to an AP survey.
Since his Covid-19 diagnosis last week, Biden has not made any public appearances. On Monday, White House doctor Kevin O’Connor issued a statement confirming Biden’s improving health, noting, “President Biden completed his tenth dose of PAXLOVID this morning. His symptoms have almost resolved completely. His pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate, and temperature remain absolutely normal. His oxygen saturation continues to be excellent on room air. His lungs remain clear.”
With ongoing concerns about Biden’s health, Harris faces increasing pressure to address these issues and clarify who is currently managing the country’s affairs.
