At this point, the credibility of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is ultimately shot. The CDC has changed its tune so many times that it’s hard to keep up with. They’ve proven that they’re not wholly guided by science. They are also too eager to implement various changes when they think it is politically beneficial.
However, the CDC is far from alone in its lack of credibility. The same also applies to health officials like Anthony Fauci, Deborah Birx, and others who contradict themselves or fail to abide by their advice.
As noted by National Review, the lack of credibility associated with the CDC has led to the state of Michigan altogether rejecting some of their latest guidance.
The CDC gave new guidance about necessary quarantine measures within the past two weeks.
The latest guidance from the CDC states that asymptomatic folks who test positive for the virus need only self-isolate for five days rather than ten days. After the five-day isolation period, these individuals should wear face masks for at least another five days.
Michigan, however, has made it clear that they have no intention of abiding by this whatsoever. The state’s health and human services department announced that they’ll continue to comply with the ten-day self-isolation guidance until the CDC can provide “additional information.”
After amending the quarantine period from ten days to five days, the CDC stated the decision was motivated by an interest in people quarantining. Likewise came the CDC’s admission that a ten-day self-isolation period may be too much for some folks and lead to them forgoing isolation altogether, even after a positive COVID test.
Believe it or not, it appears the tide is finally starting to turn when it comes to COVID. Health officials like Leana Wen have conceded that cloth face coverings do not stop omicron.
Meanwhile, the CDC has slowly begun to acknowledge that societal impacts of various virus measures also matter. For the longest time, the CDC and other health officials did not recognize the essential nature of how restrictions impact society at large.
Many conservatives feel the tide’s turning ultimately has to do with the 2022 midterm elections. Right now, Democrats are on the verge of absolutely getting wiped out come November.
In the end, though, American voters can easily see through the real motivations behind these changes. It’s time for leadership in the nation to take a turn, and it starts with voting Democrats out of the House and Senate.
