A congressional report has revealed a disturbing increase in Chinese Communist Party (CCP) espionage within the U.S. since the Biden-Harris administration took office. The House Homeland Security Committee’s Subcommittee on Counterterrorism, Law Enforcement, and Intelligence released the findings, showing more than 55 instances of CCP-linked spying activities across 20 states from 2021 to 2024.
Committee Chairman Mark Green (R-TN) expressed concern, stating that “Beijing has continually encroached upon American sovereignty.” The report highlights various forms of espionage, including the theft of military secrets, suppression of Chinese dissidents in the U.S., and corporate espionage. One major case involves Ji Chaoqun, a Chinese national sentenced to eight years in prison in 2023 for attempting to recruit American scientists to pass sensitive technology to the CCP.
In addition to espionage, Chinese nationals have been apprehended at unprecedented rates along the U.S.-Mexico border. Over 36,000 Chinese individuals were detained in Fiscal Year 2024, surpassing the total number from the previous 13 years combined.
As these cases mount, the Biden-Harris administration is being criticized for its handling of China’s growing espionage efforts. Democratic nominee Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz are also facing scrutiny as Congress investigates their alleged ties to China, further fueling concerns about national security.
