House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) is calling for an in-depth investigation into President Joe Biden’s personal physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, following rising concerns about the president’s health and potential conflicts of interest.
In a letter obtained by the Washington Examiner, Comer has requested an interview with O’Connor, challenging the doctor’s February statement that Biden is a “healthy, active, robust 81-year-old male, who remains fit to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency.” This request follows Biden’s June 27 debate performance against former President Donald Trump, which has heightened worries about his cognitive abilities.
Comer is also probing O’Connor’s ties to Americore, a defunct healthcare company linked to Biden’s brother, James Biden. According to Comer, James Biden was paid $600,000 by Americore to leverage the Biden name for funding from the Middle East. Comer suggests that O’Connor’s medical assessments might be compromised due to his association with the Biden family’s business dealings.
To further investigate, Comer has requested all relevant documents and communications regarding Americore and James Biden. This effort is part of a larger inquiry into the Biden family’s financial activities.
The White House confirmed that Biden had a medical examination following his debated performance, addressing public concerns about his health. The Biden campaign previously mentioned that the president was suffering from a cold during the debate.
Visitor logs have also revealed that Dr. Kevin Cannard, a Parkinson’s disease specialist from Walter Reed Medical Center, has met with O’Connor and others at the White House residence clinic on multiple occasions since November 2022. These meetings have sparked additional questions about Biden’s health.
Comer’s investigation is focused on determining if O’Connor’s medical evaluations have been influenced by his private business connections to the Biden family. The House Oversight Committee plans to hold a transcribed interview with O’Connor by July 14 to delve into these concerns and ensure the integrity of the president’s medical assessments.
