Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) is defending her support for anti-Tesla protests after being accused by Attorney General Pam Bondi of encouraging threats against Elon Musk. The dispute emerged following Crockett’s remarks during a Tesla Takedown rally where she described wanting Musk “taken down” on her birthday.
The March 29 protest effort is part of a wider campaign opposing Musk’s connection to the Trump administration. The movement has organized demonstrations outside Tesla locations across the U.S. and Europe, with more than 500 events planned. Participants are being urged to protest Musk’s policies and business practices without engaging in violence or illegal activity.
NEW: AG Pam Bondi says Rep. Jasmine Crockett could be CENSURED by Congress after calling for Elon Musk to be “taken down” and for Ted Cruz to be “knocked in the head.”

Bondi’s comments were made during a Fox News interview, where she claimed Crockett’s language was dangerous and implied she had called for Musk to be harmed. Crockett fired back on MSNBC, stating that her message was clearly about lawful protest and not a call for violence.

Crockett also referenced her work on the DOGE Oversight Committee, which reviews the activities of Musk’s government department. She has previously accused Musk of undermining democracy through his influence on federal agencies and contracts.
The protest group behind Tesla Takedown has posted disclaimers making it clear they disapprove of vandalism or physical confrontation. However, the Trump administration has categorized recent crimes targeting Tesla dealerships as domestic terrorism, despite no direct link to the protest organizers.
Crockett accused Republican critics of focusing on her words instead of addressing the concerns raised by Musk’s role in public policy. She said she had never promoted violence and pointed to what she described as selective outrage from those who excused participants in the Jan. 6 unrest.
Bondi warned that as a public official, Crockett had a responsibility to avoid inciting unrest. She also said the administration would act to protect Tesla’s property and personnel, citing recent threats to dealerships.
The protest website calls Musk a threat to democratic institutions and claims he is using Tesla profits to pursue political goals. Musk has not publicly responded to Crockett’s remarks.
