Democrats have had their eyes set on Texas for quite some time now. During the 2020 presidential election, Biden and his team worked hard to take Texas. However, the Lone Star State ultimately went to Trump.
Texas Democrat Beto O’Rourke is campaigning to be the next Governor of Texas. Amid his interest in taking the Lone Star State’s governor’s mansion, O’Rourke has walked back some of the comments he made about wanting to take away Americans’ firearms.
Even as public sentiment steadily turns against Democrats and the leadership they’ve brought to the United States, Democrats still believe they have a shot at making Texas blue.
Over the weekend, House Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said as much while campaigning for various left-wing candidates, according to Fox News.
On Saturday, the far-left congresswoman went to San Antonio to campaign for Greg Casar and Jessica Cisneros. During her remarks, Ocasio-Cortez laid out her vision for the Lone Star State.
According to the Congresswoman, Texas is “inevitable” to flip blue. Ocasio-Cortez declared that once Texas flips, the rest of the nation will follow. Likewise, the far-left Democrat declared that Texas needs to be unionized with a higher minimum wage and “undocumented” individuals allowance.
One of the most apparent indicators of Texas’ political leanings is the latest data from its gubernatorial election.
Republican Governor Greg Abbott is leading his left-wing opponent by multiple points. Abbott has an advantage over O’Rourke when it comes to Independent voters in Texas.
Ocasio-Cortez isn’t the first Democrat determined to make Texas blue, and she certainly won’t be the last. However, Republicans have weighed in on the congresswoman claiming Democrats will eventually control the Lone Star State.
RNC Texas Communications Director Macarena Martinez noted the GOP is making genuine investments in the Lone Star State. Many people have moved to Texas to escape the Democrat leadership Ocasio-Cortez wants to be in charge.
Democrats have a fairly established pattern of trying and failing to make Texas a blue state. Therefore, if Republicans hold the line, keep working, and vote accordingly, the Lone Star State can remain red.
All in all, the fate of Texas is going to have monumental impacts on the United States, especially with midterms and the 2024 presidential election coming up.
