Biden went a different direction than expected when he spoke at his Town Hall with Don Lemon, but let’s be honest, it was a comedy in the first place.
Biden spoke about the filibuster saying, “You have to hold the floor.” Perhaps canceled culture will go after him this time because the left seems to think the filibuster is racist.
When asked if Republicans would use the filibuster to make it harder for black people to vote and suggested the filibuster had racist roots, Mitch McConnel said, “Actually, historians disagree. It has no racial history at all. None.” Did McConnel and Biden just become best friends? No. But they certainly seem to agree that the history of the filibuster isn’t racist. I don’t think we’re headed in the right direction yet.
Elizabeth Warren suggested in March of 2021 that the filibuster had racist roots, so where is Warren to out Joe Biden as a racist? Oh, it only works when you use it on Republicans?
Don Lemon said, “This is the thing for people who look like me, my grandmother would sit around when I was a kid, 5th-grade education, I learned she couldn’t read when I was doing my homework, and she would tell me stories about people asking her to count the number of Jelly Beans in the jar, so why is protecting the filibuster, is that more important than protecting voting rights, especially for people who fought and died for that?” Biden replied with “It’s not. I want to see the United States Congress, the United States Senate pass S1 and S4, the John Lewis Act, get ‘em on my desk, so I can sign ‘em. But here’s the deal, what I also want to do, I want to make sure we bring along, not just all the Democrats, we bring along Republicans who I know, Know better. They know better than this. And what I don’t want to do is get wrapped up right now in the argument whether this is all about the filibuster or all. Look, the American public, you can’t stop them from voting. They tried last time. More people voted last time than any time in American history in the middle of the worst pandemic in American history.”
How motivating, Biden. All the bill’s he’s talking about would strengthen the security of elections. There’s no reason you shouldn’t have to show identification or proof of address when you vote. You have to do that when you get a driver’s license and don’t forget, driving is a privilege, not a right. Voting is a right. This country has become so backward in its thinking of verification systems. While Democrats lecture Americans on being held accountable on social media platforms and uploading identification to get an account, why are they so resistant to the idea that voters shouldn’t have to show their identification? It’s madness. And don’t forget, the Democrats use the filibuster as well. What a bunch of racists.
