DeSantis Sends Private Planes Of Illegals To Martha’s Vineyard

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has sent two private planes filled with illegal immigrants to the elites’ vacation island of Martha’s Vineyard in the GOP’s latest move to force Democrat-run areas far from the southern border to experience some of the consequences of President Joe Biden’s open border policies.

Following the lead of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott — who has sent busloads of illegals to Washington, D.C., New York City and Chicago — DeSantis has now flown illegals to the island paradise of Martha’s Vineyard.

“Florida can confirm the two planes with illegal immigrants that arrived in Martha’s Vineyard were part of the state’s relocation program to transport illegal immigrants to sanctuary destinations,” a statement from DeSantis’ office read.

“States like Massachusetts, New York and California will better facilitate the care of these individuals who they have invited into our country by incentivizing illegal immigration through their designation as ‘sanctuary states’ and support for the Biden administration’s open border policies,” the statement continued.

A Massachusetts state senator confirmed to local news outlet WCVB that the charter flights had arrived on Wednesday afternoon.

According to flight records, the charter flights originated in Texas, and made a stop to load illegal immigrants from Florida’s panhandle as well.

An estimated 50 Venezuelan illegal immigrants, some of whom were children, were transported to Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School for food and shelter prior to being sent to immigrant shelters in Edgartown, which is a tourist town in Dukes County, on Martha’s Vineyard.

“We’re going to take care of you,” Dukes County Sheriff Robert Ogden reportedly told the illegal immigrants, according to The Martha’s Vineyard Times.

DeSantis has allocated $12 million in funding for an illegal immigrant relocation program which intends to transport illegals to so-called sanctuary cities and states across the country.

Martha’s Vineyard is an island that is viewed as an upscale vacation destination and weekend escape for wealthy elites, especially Democrats. Many Hollywood elites have homes on the island, as well as liberals like former President Barack Obama.

Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker (R) released a statement Wednesday night regarding the news, saying that his administration will be supporting efforts to provide shelter and care for the illegal immigrants.

“The Baker-Polito Administration is in touch with local officials regarding the arrival of migrants in Martha’s Vineyard,” the statement noted.

Baker, who was once one of the most popular governors in the country, has chosen not to run for reelection in the deep blue state. Geoff Diehl, who is endorsed by former President Donald Trump, won the GOP gubernatorial primary earlier this month and will be running against Democrat state Attorney General Maura Healey in the upcoming midterm election to be the state’s next governor.
