Ex-Twitter Executives To Testify On Hunter Biden Laptop Story Censorship

The first session of the House Oversight Committee will see three former Twitter executives testify about the social media company’s decision to censor an article.

The ex-employees, whose identities have not been released, will appear before the committee led by Rep. James Comer (R-NY) on Feb. 8 to give an account of what they know about Twitter’s suppression of a story by the New York Post on Hunter Biden’s laptop in the weeks leading to the 2020 election.

“We’re going to talk to Twitter employees because I think there’s a lot of misconceptions about the laptop. And we’re going to talk about that laptop,” Comer said on Monday regarding the hearing.

The committee’s investigation comes after journalist Matt Taibbi published “Twitter Files,” which included communications discussing the Hunter Biden laptop story. The documents revealed that multiple Twitter executives moved to stop the spread of the Hunter Biden story.

Among those executives are the former Twitter head of trust and safety Yoel Roth, who encouraged staff to censor the story, and former Chief Legal Officer Vijaya Gadde. All executives involved in the censoring were fired in one of Elon Musk’s first steps when he took over the company last year.

Now, the House Oversight Committee will not only be looking into the Hunter Biden laptop saga but will also be investigating President Joe Biden in light of the classified documents scandal.

The president’s lawyers first revealed in November that records with classified markings from the Obama administration were discovered in his office at the Penn Biden Center in Washington. After that, classified documents were found in the garage of Biden’s Delaware home in December and more was found in his home on Jan. 12.

Biden’s scandal and his son’s laptop story scandal became connected when it became revealed that Hunter might have had access to where his father kept classified documents. In his 2021 memoir, Beautiful Things: A Memoir, he had written that he and some family members were “quarantined” in the home on Nov. 3, 2020, as they awaited election results.

His presence at the home where the classified documents were discovered means he probably had access to the garage too.

That Hunter had access to the classified files is cause for concern as he was involved in shady deals with businessmen from China during that time. As evidence suggests, the younger Biden attempted to work numerous deals with CEFC China Energy, a conglomerate founded by Ye Jianming, who has ties to the Chinese Communist Party.
