FEMA Faces Scrutiny After Abandoning Trump Supporters In Florida

FEMA is facing intense criticism following reports that a supervisor instructed disaster relief workers to avoid helping Trump-supporting homes in Florida. The allegations involve Marn’i Washington, who led relief efforts in Highlands County after Hurricane Milton.

Internal communications obtained by The Daily Wire show that Washington directed workers to skip homes with Trump signs, both verbally and through group chats. Relief workers documented skipped addresses in FEMA’s system, citing leadership instructions.

One FEMA employee expressed disbelief, saying, “I thought we could go help and make a difference. When we got there we were told to discriminate against people.” Highlands County, which voted overwhelmingly for President Donald Trump, was severely affected by the storm.

FEMA has since removed Washington from her position and launched an investigation. The agency called the incident “deeply disturbing” and emphasized that it is taking corrective measures to ensure all survivors receive aid.

The controversy has drawn widespread criticism, with conservatives accusing FEMA of political bias. Whistleblowers argue that such actions undermine the agency’s integrity and public trust in federal disaster relief.

FEMA reported assisting over 365,000 households in Florida and providing nearly $900 million in disaster aid following Hurricanes Milton and Helene, despite the allegations of discrimination.
