Gabbard Revokes Clearances Of Intelligence Officials Who Misled Voters

The security clearances of 51 former intelligence officials who falsely claimed Hunter Biden’s laptop was “Russian disinformation” have been revoked under the direction of President Donald Trump, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard announced Monday.

Among those stripped of their access to classified materials are former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, ex-CIA Directors John Brennan and Leon Panetta, and former National Security Advisor John Bolton. Also included are former Secretary of State Antony Blinken, New York Attorney General Letitia James, and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

Gabbard confirmed the decision in a post on X, stating that those who played a role in spreading misinformation about Hunter Biden’s laptop would no longer hold security clearances. She also revealed that former President Joe Biden was no longer receiving the President’s Daily Brief.

The move follows an executive order issued by Trump upon returning to office, which directed the intelligence community to assess whether former officials had improperly influenced elections. The letter signed by the 51 intelligence officials was widely used by media outlets and social media platforms to suppress reporting on Hunter Biden’s laptop in the weeks leading up to the 2020 election.

Despite signing the letter, some officials later admitted they knew the laptop’s contents were likely real. Former CIA officer Douglas Wise acknowledged that a “significant portion” of the materials on the laptop had to be authentic, yet he and others still signed the statement framing it as potential Russian disinformation.

Gabbard has been at the forefront of intelligence reform efforts in the Trump administration, recently dismissing over 100 National Security Agency employees for inappropriate use of classified communication systems.
