Appearing on Fox News’ “Hannity,” Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) called out the Biden administration for not condemning the ongoing illegal protests outside of the homes of conservative Supreme Court justices brought on by an impending abortion ruling that will likely overturn Roe v. Wade.
Following the leaking of an early draft opinion in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization which indicated that the Supreme Court was poised to rule in a way that would overturn Roe, a radical pro-abortion group doxed the addresses of conservative justices and protests began outside of their homes.
As the country awaits the Supreme Court’s ruling, the protests have continued, and some radical activists have escalated their tactics. There have been several terrorist attacks carried out on pro-life pregnancy centers, and an attempted assassination of Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Many conservatives have asserted that the lack of action being taken against the illegal protests outside of the justices’ homes has led to the escalation of tactics.
While the First Amendment does guarantee the right to protest, there are exceptions, especially in the case of intending to influence the decision of a judge. The radical pro-abortion protesters currently demonstrating outside of the homes of Supreme Court justices are violating 18 U.S.C. Section 1507, which criminalizes attempts to influence the court.
During his appearance on “Hannity,” Johnson called out the Biden administration for not speaking out against the “intimidation” of Supreme Court justices, and pointed out the hypocrisy surrounding left-wing politicians who have made statements that could be construed as inciting these illegal activities.
“Sean, it is outrageous, that you don’t have the Biden administration condemning this intimidation, you don’t have Democrats speaking out against it,” Johnson said. “If you remember, Chuck Schumer on the steps of the Supreme Court threatening Justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh saying you unleash the whirl wind, you will pay the price, you won’t know what hit you. Turn the tables — can you imagine if a Republican congressional leader issued those words, that threat against a liberal justice? First of all, that Republican Congress person would not be in Congress. They would have to resign in shame, and they certainly wouldn’t have been elected majority leader of the Senate like Democrat senators elected Chuck Schumer.”
“It’s outrageous that Democrats don’t condemn this threat in violence, the real violence, we had one of our family action groups firebombed in Madison,” he continued. “Finally, the FBI is starting to investigate this, but this is way too little way too late.”
Johnson went on to predict that the pro-abortion protests will “probably turn to riots and violence,” just as the George Floyd protests did in the summer of 2020.
“Democrats just won’t condemn the protests, which will probably turn to riots and violence,” Johnson added. “They didn’t do it during the summer of 2020 when you had over 2,000 law enforcement officers injured, two billion in damage, they didn’t condemn that, they just concentrate on January 6th. And what shows that committee to be a total sham is nobody’s asking the questions they should be asking — why wasn’t the Capitol prepared, why wasn’t it better protected and who’s responsible for the lack of preparations and security.”
