H-1B Visa Debate Highlights Musk’s Role In Middle-Class Wage Concerns

Elon Musk’s defense of the H-1B visa program has drawn sharp criticism from MAGA allies, with Steve Bannon accusing the tech mogul of undermining American workers. Critics warn that Musk’s support for loosening restrictions on foreign labor could drive down wages and hurt the U.S. middle class.

Musk has argued that the program is essential for innovation, citing its role in attracting top talent to Tesla and SpaceX. However, critics allege Musk’s financial interests play a role in his stance. By hiring less expensive foreign workers willing to work longer hours, companies could cut costs while forcing Americans into a “race to the bottom” for compensation.

During his War Room podcast, Bannon blasted Musk, calling the H-1B program a “scam.” He also accused Musk of being a “globalist” whose business ventures in China reflect his lack of loyalty to American interests. “The Shanghai joint venture is 100% controlled by the CCP,” Bannon said.

Trump’s recent praise for H-1B visas as a “great program” has further fueled the debate. While some GOP members see the visas as necessary for economic growth, others, like Laura Loomer, warn they undermine Trump’s nationalist agenda.

Critics also point to Musk’s extensive operations in China as evidence of his alignment with globalist interests. Bannon has claimed Musk is “owned lock, stock and barrel by the Chinese Communist Party.”

The debate has exposed divisions within Trump’s coalition, reflecting broader tensions over immigration and labor policy.
