‘I Will Never Surrender’: Trump Vows Defiance After Second Assassination Fails

President Donald Trump has made a resolute declaration after an attempt on his life at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida. Trump assured supporters with, “There were gunshots in my vicinity, but before rumors start spiraling out of control, I wanted you to hear this first: I AM SAFE AND WELL!” He emphasized, “Nothing will slow me down. I will NEVER SURRENDER! I will always love you for supporting me. Unity. Peace. Make America Great Again.”

The shooting involved a gunman with a semi-automatic rifle and a GoPro camera. The Secret Service engaged the shooter, who then fled. Authorities later captured a suspect in Martin County.

The FBI is treating the incident as an attempted assassination of Trump. Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi confirmed that both the agency and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the incident.

CNN reported that a semi-automatic rifle and a backpack were recovered at the scene. The GoPro camera found suggests that the attacker may have planned to record the event.

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have been informed about the incident. The White House expressed relief at Trump’s safety and assured that Biden and Harris will be kept updated.

Trump had a previous encounter with violence in July when a shooter targeted him at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Trump survived the attack, though one person was killed and two others injured. This incident led to scrutiny of security protocols and the resignation of Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle.
