After an 18-month inquiry into the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic, a Senate report has concluded that two leaks from Chinese labs in the fall of 2019 are the most probable sources of the transmission of the virus to humans.
The report was distributed by Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) who concluded that evidence points to accidental laboratory incidents in Wuhan, China as the cause of the pandemic. These incidents likely occurred as early as October 2019, and the virus spread throughout the city before it became a worldwide concern by January 2020.
The report reads, “Based on the publicly available evidence, it appears Wuhan is the only location where SARS-CoV-2 spilled over into humans. The low genetic diversity of earliest SARS-CoV-2 samples suggests that the COVID-19 pandemic is most likely the result of one or possibly two successful introductions of SARS-CoV-2. Additionally, these estimates indicate that the initial introduction may have occurred on or about November 18 and a second within weeks of the first.”
During an appearance on the “Guy Benson Show” on Fox News Radio, Sen. Marshall talked about the report. Marshall asserted that there was compelling evidence that the virus originated in a lab and that there was a “smoking gun,” but this evidence was destroyed when China erased information from databases and concealed the true source of the virus.
“There is simply a preponderance of the evidence that shows that this virus leaked — an accidental leak from a laboratory in Wuhan, China, and there were probably two leaks,” said Marshall.
He continued, “The epidemiology points that way. All the intelligence from those folks points this way as well.”
“There’s no one in the world that can doubt that the Wuhan labs had the ability to make this virus,” he added.
In addition, the Senator claimed that when viruses emerge naturally, there is a clear lineage that can be traced. However, in the case of COVID-19, there is no traceable ancestor or relative.
“You can’t find a cousin. You can’t find a grandfather, anything to COVID. And that’s because it was made in a laboratory and the true cousin, the true father of COVID-19 is that DNA lab bank. That is absolutely one of the smoking guns, one of the witnesses that this gain-of-function mafia destroyed,” said Marshall.
