Lawsuit: DOJ Withholding 400 Pages Of Biden Family Business Documents

President Joe Biden’s Department of Justice (DOJ) is reportedly withholding roughly 400 pages of documents related to the Biden family’s foreign business dealings, according to a lawsuit from Colorado lawyer Kevin Evans.

Evans filed a lawsuit against the DOJ in an effort to force the agency to reveal 400 pages of documents that would detail some of the inner workings of the president’s family’s business dealings — specifically his son, Hunter Biden, and his brother James Biden, and their actions in Ukraine, Russia and China.

The DOJ is reportedly preventing the disclosure of these documents by simply pretending that they don’t exist, according to the Daily Mail.

Evans demanded the release of these documents under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). He filed his lawsuit in March after the agency failed to produce them.

Evans, a FOIA expert, specifically requested that the DOJ produce documents pertaining to “any relationship, communication, gift(s), and/or remuneration in any form” between Hunter, James and the foreign countries.

Despite the fact that the DOJ has previously appeared to acknowledge the existence of these documents, Evans predicts that the agency will fight his lawsuit.

“I’m quite confident that they will move for summary judgment on the privacy exemptions under FOIA in an effort to avoid having to produce these documents,” Evans said.

“But I don’t think they should in this instance, particularly when they’ve disclosed and put on the record that potentially responsive documents exist,” he added. “The problem is, FOIA has become a toothless vehicle. Courts do not comply with the spirit of the law, they’re more inclined to bend over backward to accept the government’s position rather than force disclosure.”

Meanwhile, financial documents have confirmed that the Biden family business received funds from business partners in Russia, Ukraine and China while Joe Biden was serving in elected office. According to Peter Schweizer, a senior contributor at Breitbart News, Hunter Biden received millions of dollars through his foreign business deals despite the fact that he “offered no real work” in exchange for that money.

“What we know is that the Biden family has benefited from commercial deals overseas to the tune of tens of millions of dollars. That’s not in dispute. That’s based on the so-called suspicious activity reports that the Treasury Department has released because a U.S. Senate committee asked for it,” Schweizer said.

These suspicious activity reports have been a key piece of evidence that Republican lawmakers have used in their calls for an investigation into the Biden family business.

Speaking with Breitbart News in November, Rep. James Comer (R-KY) — the top Republican on the House Oversight Committee — noted that suspicious bank records alerted Republicans to alleged violations committed by the Biden family business.

The suspicious bank records that Comer was referencing are over 150 suspicious financial transactions from Hunter and James Biden that were flagged by U.S. banks — which included “large” amounts of money flagged for additional review by these banks.

“The focus is on day one are those bank violations and those bank records,” Comer said. “We have some bank statements in hand, and we believe that suspicious activity reports, which are bank violations when the bank notifies the federal government that we’re pretty confident that our client has committed a crime, Hunter Biden and Jim Biden have at least 150 of those. And I’ve said this before, and I come from a strong banking background, I don’t think there’s anyone in the history of the United States that’s had that many suspicious activity reports.”

Hunter Biden is currently being investigated by House Republicans for nine alleged violations, which include financial violations. The president’s son has also been under investigation by the DOJ since 2018 for potential tax and gun violations, though the DOJ has reportedly delayed its “final decision” on whether to charge him for these crimes. Speaking with the Wall Street Journal, people familiar with the matter claimed that Hunter Biden’s drug abuse could be an excuse used to defend him against the charges.

Meanwhile, Comer has noted in recent statements that at least one of the House Republicans’ investigations is directly looking into President Biden himself, not just his family members.
