Lori Lightfoot Calls Texas Governor A Racist For Bussing Illegal Immigrants To Chicago

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) is smearing Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) as a racist after the governor announced he would be bussing illegal immigrants to her city.

Lightfoot is livid after discovering that the Republican governor is sending illegals to Chicago, despite her prior boasts that Chicago is a “sanctuary city.”

“He is a man without any morals, humanity or shame,” the Democrat mayor raged, claiming that Abbott had “inhumanely load them onto buses” and citing his supposedly “racist and xenophobic practices of expulsion.”

Seth Christensen, chief of media and communications at the Texas Division of Emergency Management, disputed her claims, informing Fox News that the buses transporting the illegal immigrants had air conditioning, food, water, and security personnel.

During the same speech in which Lightfoot attacked Abbott for bussing the illegals to her city, the mayor claimed that Chicago is “a welcoming city” — yet her earlier comments prove that she is unhappy about the arrival of the illegals.

“We are Chicago, a welcoming city, a city where we live our values every single day — a city where immigrants and refugees have been a part of the fabric of the city from our earliest days,” Lightfoot said.

According to Fox News, approximately 75 illegal immigrants arrived in Chicago via bus from Texas. Chicago is the third city added to Abbott’s plan, as the Texas governor began by bussing illegals to New York City and Washington, D.C., in an effort to force leftists to experience the consequences of the border crisis caused by policies that they advocate for.

Abbott announced the transport to Chicago’s Union Station on Wednesday.

“President Biden’s inaction at our southern border continues putting the lives of Texans—and Americans—at risk and is overwhelming our communities,” Abbott said. “To continue providing much-needed relief to our small, overrun border towns, Chicago will join fellow sanctuary cities Washington, D.C. and New York City as an additional drop-off location.”

The Texas governor then took aim at Lightfoot, stating: “Mayor Lightfoot loves to tout the responsibility of her city to welcome all regardless of legal status, and I look forward to seeing this responsibility in action as these migrants receive resources from a sanctuary city with the capacity to serve them.”

Renea Eze, Abbott’s press secretary, condemned the Chicago mayor, calling her an “absolute hypocrite.”

“Where was her outrage and condemnation of President Biden as he flew planeloads of migrants across the country and dropped them in communities in the cover of night?” the press secretary asked in a statement to Fox News Digital. “Mayor Lightfoot knows nothing about Texas’ busing strategy and needs to stop with the baseless lies and fearmongering.”

“Texas continues stepping up and responding to the Biden-made border crisis, taking unprecedented action to address the historic levels of illegal immigrants, terrorists and deadly drugs like fentanyl that are surging into our communities and overwhelming border towns,” Eze added.

“If the mayor wants a solution to this humanitarian crisis, she should stop complaining and call on President Biden to take immediate action to secure the border — something the President continues failing to do,” she concluded.

Since April, Texas has bussed approximately 7,000 illegal immigrants to Washington D.C. and NYC.
