Michael Moore, as unpatriotically as he could, posted on Twitter to commemorate the 4th of July holiday. Moore has expressed anti-American messaging for years so it comes at no surprise that he chose this holiday to spread his message.
Moore tweeted, “A mass shooting to celebrate the 4th. A wealthy class that doubled its wealth while the country suffered. A Supreme Court that stripped 51% of our citizens of their reproductive rights while removing gun laws & killing the EPA.”
March of Dimes reported, “In the United States in 2020, the population of women ages 15-44 was 64,543,832.” Moore is really talking about 38% of the population rather than 51%.
Moore also posted a “declaration” to Substack on July 4 that says he can’t accept his “full citizenship” privilege.
In a portion of the declaration, Moore said, “I refuse to live in a country threatened by white supremacy — and I’m not leaving. So we’ve got a problem.”
It seems that only Moore has the problem.
Moore continued, “I cannot in good conscience continue to receive the privileges of ‘full citizenship’ in this land when all of its women and girls have now been, by Court decree, declared official second-class citizens with no rights to their own bodies and conscripted to a life of Forced Birth should they fall pregnant and not want to be.”
Moore said he’s also not going to stop talking about Roe v. Wade until women’s rights have been fully restored and Congress is made up of 51% women.
Though 55% of Americans identify as pro-choice, it’s unclear if abortion will be a win at the ballot box. Inflation is at record highs and gas prices aren’t showing signs of lowering across the country.
On top of inflation, social issues have historically been losing issues for Democrats. Most recently, the November 2020 Virginia gubernatorial election was largely based on parents’ ability to make decisions about their children’s education.
Moore also outlined how political candidates would get his support. Moore said, “No candidate will get our support unless they sign a pledge stating they will vote to make Roe v. Wade the law of the land; make gerrymandering and voter suppression illegal; eliminate the filibuster; upgrade Obamacare to Universal Health Care for All; pass strong gun control laws; and end the police executions and racist incarcerations of Black citizens.”
