For around two years now, the CDC has been putting out one series of guidance after the next for COVID.
The only problem here is the guidance continues to change and lacks fidelity to science. The CDC recorded that COVID vaccines were the key to putting the virus behind us. Yet, with more than 80% of the country having at least one vaccine dose, COVID is still here.
Similarly, the CDC stated that if people got vaccinated, they wouldn’t need to wear face coverings any longer. Yet, during summer 2021, the CDC reinstated mask mandates, citing the “Omicron” COVID variant as the reason why.
As it turns out, there are only so many times one can move around the goalposts before people stop believing what they say. The CDC is learning this lesson the hard way, as reported by The Federalist.
The CDC’s everchanging messages on masks, COVID vaccines, booster shots, etc., have gotten to be too much for some people and understandably so. If the CDC will walk back its previous guidance every few weeks, it completely taints its credibility as an institution.
During this month alone, the director of the CDC came out and stated that the meaning of “fully vaccinated” is now being changed to include folks who have gotten booster shots on top of the original COVID vaccines.
On top of this, there is already talk about a second booster shot (thereby totaling four COVID shots altogether) being rolled out.
That’s not all, though. The CDC has primarily been on board with COVID mandates, citing why. However, the data cited by the CDC is not accurate. For instance, hospitals have been busted for labeling anyone who enters their facility and tests positive for the virus as a “COVID patient.”
It means that if someone got into a car accident and therefore went to the hospital, they were labeled as a “COVID patient” if they also happened to test positive for the virus. By intentionally skewing the numbers in this regard, the data being used as a basis for the CDC’s decisions wasn’t even reliable.
At this point, there’s no telling what the CDC will have to do to regain trust from the public that they’ve lost. When it comes to COVID, though, more and more people are deciding they’ve had enough.
Americans want to make their own decisions without government bureaucrats endlessly breathing down their necks.
Many folks who did go out and get their vaccines and boosters are also starting to feel like they should be able to live their lives, rather than constantly being told what they’ve done still isn’t enough for a return to normal.
The CDC has lost all credibility, and they have no one but themselves to blame.
