Musk Demands Fauci Accountability As Conservatives Push For Reform

Elon Musk has doubled down on his demand for Dr. Anthony Fauci to face legal scrutiny, declaring on X, “My pronouns are still prosecute/Fauci.” Musk’s post follows years of criticism of Fauci’s role in handling the COVID-19 pandemic.

The comment was part of an ongoing discussion about Fauci’s financial benefits as a federal employee. Critics have pointed to his $480,654 salary, $355,000 pension, and $11 million net worth as examples of what they view as excessive compensation. Musk and others have also questioned the $15 million spent on Fauci’s security since his retirement in 2022.

Fauci has faced Republican accusations of funding gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab and participating in a cover-up of a potential lab leak. In testimony earlier this year, Fauci strongly denied these allegations, calling them “simply preposterous.”

Musk’s critiques extend beyond Fauci to the government’s broader handling of the pandemic. Since acquiring Twitter, Musk has reversed bans on discussing COVID-19’s origins and has become a vocal proponent of greater transparency and accountability.

As an advisor to President-elect Donald Trump, Musk’s influence has grown significantly. He has donated $100 million to Trump’s campaign efforts and played a key role in encouraging voter participation. Musk’s proposals, including a government efficiency commission, have already gained Trump’s support.
