Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and owner of X, expressed concerns that Vice President Kamala Harris would launch legal efforts to shut down X if she wins the 2024 presidential election. During an interview with Tucker Carlson, Musk warned that Harris would use “lawfare” to stifle his companies and prevent X from continuing to operate as a platform for free speech.
Musk explained that if Harris wins, legal action would likely be used against him, including lawsuits aimed at dismantling X. He noted that the Biden administration has already targeted his companies with lawsuits, including one against SpaceX for not hiring asylum seekers. This lawsuit, filed by the Department of Justice, was criticized by Musk for ignoring national security regulations that limit who can be hired by companies working with sensitive technologies.
Musk has faced other legal battles, including a lawsuit against Tesla for alleged racial harassment, and he believes these actions are part of a broader attempt to silence his support for free speech. Musk has been a vocal advocate for President Donald Trump and has supported GOP candidates in the midterm elections.
Musk predicts that a Harris administration would intensify these efforts, potentially leading to X’s shutdown. Harris has yet to respond to Musk’s claims.
