Nevada Woman Faces Charges For Stealing Casket, Dumping Body After Drinking

Las Vegas police have arrested Patricia Sierra, 47, for allegedly breaking into a funeral home, stealing a casket, and dumping a deceased woman’s body outside the business. The incident occurred late last month at the Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, where police were called after the body of a woman in her sixties was discovered facedown on landscaping rocks outside the building.

Surveillance footage captured Sierra breaking into the funeral home and stealing a casket with the body inside. The footage later helped police identify her after a witness at a nearby convenience store recognized her description and called authorities. Sierra was arrested two days after the incident.

During questioning, Sierra reportedly admitted to the crime but claimed she blacked out after drinking six beers. She told police she had no memory of the incident and apologized, stating she was not attempting to be malicious. Police documents indicated that she expressed regret over what had happened.

Sierra is now facing multiple charges, including grand larceny, burglary, and disturbing human remains. Her bail was set at $11,000, and she is due in court on September 18, 2024, for a preliminary hearing.

The case has left many locals shocked, especially due to the unusual and disturbing nature of the crime.
