Newest Lawfare Attempt On Republicans Aimed At Gov. Ron DeSantis

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar (D-TX) is investigating possible criminal activity into Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) for having illegal migrants transported from San Antonio to Martha’s Vineyard.

Last week, DeSantis moved approximately 50 of the illegals to the sanctuary state of Massachusetts for them to enjoy “greener pastures,” DeSantis said in defending the transportation.

“If you have folks that are inclined to think Florida is a good place, our message to them is that we are not a sanctuary state,” DeSantis said. “It’s better to be able to go to a sanctuary jurisdiction, and yes, we will help facilitate that transport for you, to be able to go to greener pastures.”

Additionally, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, as part of “Operation Lonestar”, has been sending migrants to Democratic-led cities such as New York and Washington, D.C., for months, as they sharply criticize President Joe Biden’s immigration and border policies.

Vice President Kamala Harris claimed the “border is secure” earlier this month, prompting outrage from both Republicans and Democrats. Meanwhile, Border Patrol officers are logging roughly 8,000 migrant encounters a day, the highest daily number in U.S. history. The massive surge in migrants has left agencies such as Customs and Border Protection scrambling to implement new processing systems.

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) called Harris “dead wrong.”

“For the vice president, or anybody to say our borders are secured, that is not accurate. I’ve been there,” Manchin said. “It’s wrong.”

In looking for crimes that may have been committed by DeSantis, Salazar suggests the Florida governor may have broken laws against fraud or human trafficking. Additionally, California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) sent a letter asking Attorney General Merrick Garland (D) to investigate whether DeSantis could be charged with kidnapping, despite launching a program that bussed thousands of homeless people out of San Francisco and the state.

“They are signed consent forms to go,” DeSantis said. “They were provided with a packet that had a map of Martha’s Vineyard. It had the numbers for different services on Martha’s Vineyard. And it had the numbers for overall agencies in Massachusetts that handle things involving immigration and refugees. So, it was clearly voluntary.”

The migrants who were relocated by the DeSantis administration to Martha’s Vineyard were quickly removed with the help of the state’s National Guard, drawing criticism from some Democrats. Former California State Senator and Democrat party leader Gloria Romero called the actions of Martha’s Vineyard residents and the Massachusetts government “elitist.”

“Think of the irony of it all. We are at the beginning of Hispanic Heritage month and so here we are facing a border that has not been secured for quite some time. Over 2 million migrants came through and it took only fifty brown people showing up in one of the most exclusive, Democrat enclaves without leaf blowers and without mops for it to be declared a national emergency,” she said, pointing out the hypocrisy of the left.”
