Oklahoma Officials Spar With Woke Activists To Defend Children

Oklahoma has for a long time been considered a ‘ruby red’ state; recent surveys by the state report over 50% of voters registering Republicans compared to just under 30% as Democrats.

Given such statistics, some have taken surprise by the state being a massive battleground against far-left ideologies. It was just a few months ago when one of the state’s top academic institutions, Oklahoma University, was caught doing chemical castrations on children, according to PJ Media. The practice was later ended after legislators froze funds to the university until it closed down the “gender clinic” for kids.

Controversy reportedly brewed in Oklahoma once again after Edmond Memorial High School superintendent Dr. Angela Grunewald let a male student use the women’s restroom, violating state law. The male student attacked two girls, only for the school to hide it from the media and parents for months, according to reports.

Some teachers have now publicly proclaimed that they will not follow Oklahoma laws banning the teaching of far-left ideologies such as critical race theory and queer theory.

Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters has promised that educators who disregard the new rules will be held to account.

“I have instructed my staff to immediately begin the process of holding two teachers accountable who actively violated state law…who admitted to violating state law to indoctrinate our kids. We will not allow the indoctrination of Oklahoma students,” he said in a clip posted to Twitter.

While Walter did not identify any teachers by name, PJ Media reported on some of the alleged offenders, including Tyler Wrynn, an educator who was caught admitting to indoctrinating students in a secret recording filmed by James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas.

Another potential target of interest for the superintendent’s office is alleged high school teacher Aaron Baker, who has publicly stated his mission to push radical left-wing politics upon his students.

“I teach high school in Oklahoma,” Baker wrote, per the outlet. “I openly declare that trans girls are girls and that Black Lives Matter. I teach African American History through an antiracist lens.”

“I refuse to teach from a posture of fear,” he said. “For me, there is no ‘chilling effect.’ I will continue to do what I do, and I will continue to speak out against policies that harm my students.”

The left-wing Baker has a whole blog about these topics as well.
