New survey data collected after the indictment of former President Donald Trump reveals that voters are more likely to vote for the former president in both the primaries and general election. Trump also emerges victorious in a head-to-head against Joe Biden.
The poll results were hailed from John McLaughlin, who according to Breitbart News is one of the top GOP pollsters around.
A total of 1,000 general election voters answered the survey, which was led on Friday, March 31, and Saturday, April 1, shortly after news of the indictment first broke. It said that Trump is leading Biden 47% to 43%, with a margin of error of 3.1%.
Fox News host Tucker Carlson covered some of the recent activities of the prosecutor who is going after Trump, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, on a Monday broadcast of his show. During the segment, Carlson accused Bragg of creating a system of “anarcho-tyranny” in New York City and suggested to his actions against the former president are yet another spectacle created by Democrats in order to humiliate Trump.

According to McLaughlin, Trump’s lead over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in the polls has widened. In a grouping of 14 candidates, the former president came out with the majority of support, while DeSantis only managed to poll 21 percent. Polling since January has indicated that there has been a change in 18 points away from DeSantis and towards Trump.
“In a full-field ballot test of 14 potential Republican candidates, President Trump leads with 51%, DeSantis 21%, Mike Pence 6%, Nikki Haley 4%, and everyone else is at 2% or less,” read McLaughlin’s memo. “In our January survey, President Trump led the field with 43%, and DeSantis was at 31%. Trump’s lead has gone from 12 points to 30 points.”
Also noted in the survey is that upon being questioned on if Bragg’s indictment would make them more or less likely to support Trump, 57% of GOP primary voters said it makes them more likely to back him, compared to only 8% indicating it would make them less likely. Meanwhile, 31 percent stated it makes no difference, with four percent being unsure.
As for the cherry on top… the poll found that the majority of general election voters, 57%, agreed with the following statement: “Joe Biden and the Democrats are spending too much time and resources going after Donald Trump with phony political attacks that are a waste of time and taxpayers’ dollars instead of trying to solve the country’s real problems on issues like the economy, inflation, crime, immigration and national security.” A mere 35% disagreed, while 8% either did not know or respond.
