Sen. Warren: Harris’ Citizenship Plan Will Give Citizenship To Millions Of Illegal Immigrants

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) revealed on CNN’s “State of the Union” that Kamala Harris, if elected president, will work with Congress to establish a pathway to citizenship for millions of illegal immigrants. This announcement follows a significant increase in illegal immigration during President Joe Biden’s administration, after he reversed Trump’s policy requiring asylum seekers to remain in Mexico until their hearings.

“I believe we need to create a pathway to citizenship,” Warren stated. “Kamala Harris will work with Congress and get that done.”

Since Biden’s inauguration in 2020, over 10 million illegal immigrants have crossed into the U.S. Harris was appointed to manage the border crisis in March 2021, which led to her being dubbed the “border czar.” However, she and her aides have attempted to distance themselves from this responsibility.

During the interview, Jake Tapper challenged Warren on the administration’s immigration policies, highlighting the public’s dissatisfaction. “I don’t need to tell you voters overwhelmingly disapprove of how the Biden-Harris administration has handled the border,” Tapper said. “By giving the nomination to one of the leaders of the border effort, aren’t Democrats doubling down on one of your party’s biggest vulnerabilities?”

Warren defended Harris by noting a decrease in border crossings compared to the last year of Trump’s term. She stressed the need for comprehensive immigration reform. “We need the tools in order to have more resources at the border, to have more resources in the states and cities that are supporting migrants. And I believe we need to create a pathway to citizenship. All of that is part of what we need to do for comprehensive immigration reform. Kamala Harris will work with Congress and get that done,” Warren explained.

The Biden-Harris administration has faced sharp criticism from the Trump campaign for its immigration policies. At a rally in Minnesota, Republican VP nominee JD Vance denounced Harris’s approach, saying, “She wants to hand over control of our country to people who shouldn’t be here in the first place. And we cannot let her.”

Vance also addressed illegal immigrants directly: “I have a message, a very simple message to the millions of illegal aliens who are in this country and shouldn’t be: If you are here, start packing your bags right now because Donald J. Trump is coming back into office.”

This plan has intensified the ongoing debate over immigration policy, highlighting the stark differences between the two major parties as the 2024 election approaches.
