Smuggling Attempt Involving 5-Year-Old Highlights Border Crisis

Texas State Troopers uncovered a disturbing child trafficking operation near Del Rio, Texas, as an illegal immigrant tried to smuggle a five-year-old girl across the southern border. The girl’s mother, living in North Carolina, reportedly paid $8,000 to smugglers for the illegal transport of her daughter.

Authorities intercepted the smuggler after spotting him forcing the girl into another vehicle destined for a local hotel. Lt. Chris Olivarez of the Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed the arrest and revealed the smuggler’s prior involvement in child trafficking in 2022. Olivarez has recommended child endangerment charges against the mother, though the district attorney has yet to decide.

The case sheds light on the dangers linked to the Biden administration’s border policies, which critics argue have worsened human trafficking. As President-elect Donald Trump prepares to assume office, his administration promises to address these failures with decisive action.

Trump’s incoming border czar, Tom Homan, plans to overhaul immigration enforcement, particularly in states that promote sanctuary policies. Homan aims to delegate non-enforcement tasks to contractors, ensuring law enforcement officers are fully available for fieldwork. “We need badges and guns on the street,” Homan said, outlining plans to double manpower where needed.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the escalating trafficking crisis, with critics pointing to lax policies as a primary factor behind the increase in smuggling operations.
