The Texas Supreme Court has done it again. Freedom and liberty will supersede teary-eyed Democrats. Texas just saw that their Supreme Court isn’t playing around anymore. The Texas Supreme Court overturned the local court’s decision and is allowing Texas House speaker Dade Phelan (R) to sign arrest warrants for the Democrats who left Texas to stop an election and bail reform bill from being passed.
Democrats are typically cowards when it comes to the truth. Democrats in Texas are the minority in the House and can’t handle a loss, so they left and went to Washington, D.C. to tattle on Republicans. The election and bail reform bill don’t oppress anyone at all. The bulk of the bill provides more security measures and adds criminal accountability for surpassing policies in place.
The local court said that the speaker couldn’t engage in “detaining, confining, or otherwise restricting” the Democrats who fled the state. But, guess what? The speaker of the House has signed 52 civil arrest warrants to have the Democrats arrested and brought to the Texas House to finish the business that was started.
The Texas House required two-thirds of its members to be present and is within five members to conduct their vote. At least four Democrats have returned and have taken a lot of heat for it. As the Democrat’s lawsuit moves forward, they may not return still, but they’ll be hunted down like dogs until they return.
Democrats of Texas have an entitlement to feel like they have to pander to the “woke” culture and their “woke” constituents by wrecking the form of government we have in place. It doesn’t matter if you’ll lose, do your job. It’s your duty, and it’s why you were elected. You’re there to represent your constituents to the best of your ability, and if your best is to lose, then you did everything you could. The Republicans have a minority in the House, Senate and don’t hold the Presidency. Do they quit? No. They fight on as if it were a life-or-death battle because that is what democracy is all about: fighting for what you believe in, regardless of the outcome.
Suppose the Texas Democrats added to their lawsuit that they have the right not to be arrested. The only accurate way is to follow the rules, and it’s evident that Texas Democrats aren’t doing that. What they want is for the federal government to give them protection and allow them political asylum in Washington, D.C., but that’s not going to happen. The rule of law will win in this country as long as we keep pushing for it. Complacency will be our downfall, and if we back off, then tyranny wins. That won’t happen.
