There was a time when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) was a credible organization. The CDC used to give out reliable and science-based health information that wasn’t reliant upon politics or personal agendas.
COVID changed all of that. The CDC said one thing at one point; they changed their minds the following week. Then, the CDC made it very clear they were driven by politics, not science when they condemned right-wing gatherings but said nothing about assemblages composed of leftists.
All in all, growing numbers of Americans are getting sick of the CDC, as reported by PJ Media.
Towards the end of last week, various Americans took to Twitter, mocking the CDC for changing its guidance on so many occasions.
The flip-flops, whether it’s regarding vaccinated people needing to wear masks vs. only unvaccinated people needing to wear masks, or something else entirely, are exhausting.
Now, the CDC has changed its guidance on how long Americans need to quarantine after testing positive for COVID. First, they said ten days of isolation was necessary. They changed it to five days, admitting that there needs to be a balance between health precautions and societal harmony.
It would be the first time that the CDC has shown any regard for the impacts their guidance has on society. During 2020, Americans repeatedly warned about adverse health consequences from shutdowns, shelter-in-place orders, etc. Yet, the CDC ignored these warnings.
Now, it’s Americans’ turn to ignore the CDC. Days ago, Michigan’s Health and Human Services Department announced that the state wouldn’t be abiding by the new recommendation for five days of quarantine after testing positive for COVID.
Michigan instead said they’ll keep sticking with ten days of quarantine after positive COVID tests until the CDC can share additional details.
For a reasonable amount of time, the CDC has been able to jerk people along with little pushback. When this agency did get pushback, they were able to say that critics didn’t care about science. However, this is all coming back on them.
As it turns out, the CDC is the one that doesn’t have any fidelity to science. Because of this, their organization has been damaged beyond repair. At this point, everyone would be better off if feedback and guidelines from the CDC were left in 2021.
As we enter the third year of this so-called pandemic, individuals have more than enough information to make their own health decisions.
