A controversial “Trans Day of Vengeance” planned by activists was canceled after potential fear of violence. The cancellation followed the shooting at a Nashville, Tennessee elementary school by a transgender shooter that killed three adults and three children.
Left-wing organizers from the groups Our Rights DC and Trans Radical Activist Network (TRAN) planned a series of protests in Washington and online.
Saturday's "Trans Day of Vengeance" direct action in D.C. has been canceled by #Antifa co-organizer @OurRightsDC. The group says they are victims of threats and that this is further evidence of #trans genocide. https://t.co/qkwkKLhYow

Despite the horrific events Monday, organizers of the event still planned for it to go on over the weekend.
Prior to the cancellation, TRAN wrote that the group does not “encourage violence and it is not welcome at this event.” The organization also wrote that the planned event was “about unity.”
Our Rights DC previously wrote, “vengeance means fighting back with vehemence.”
The organization also wrote that people “who had nothing to do with that heinous act have been subjected to highly serious threats and blamed only because of their gender identity. This is one of the steps in genocide, and we will continue our efforts to protect trans lives.”
While the activists wrote that the group still “wholeheartedly believe[s] in the mission and message we put forth for trans day of vengeance,” the event would be canceled.
