The Trump-Vance campaign released a powerful new ad on Monday accusing Democrats, particularly Vice President Kamala Harris, of encouraging violence against former President Donald Trump. The ad was launched just 24 hours after the second assassination attempt against Trump, painting “KAMALA & THE DEMOCRATS” as the “PARTY OF VIOLENCE.”
The ad prominently features Harris during a 2018 interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where she joked about potentially not coming out alive if stuck in an elevator with Trump or other political figures. The ad also plays clips of President Joe Biden, who in the past has expressed his desire to physically confront Trump, saying he would like to take him “behind the gym.”
Other Democrats highlighted in the ad include Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and Rep. Maxine Waters. These political figures, the ad suggests, have contributed to a dangerous environment with their incendiary rhetoric.
On the same day, the Trump-Vance campaign also released a detailed list of instances where Democrats’ language allegedly inspired violence against Trump. The campaign argues that these statements and the media’s coverage have emboldened those who wish to harm the former president.
The ad quickly drew criticism from left-leaning outlets like MSNBC, where the MaddowBlog attempted to downplay the assassination attempt and defended Harris’ remarks. Trump’s supporters, however, see the ad as a direct and necessary call-out of the Democratic Party’s inflammatory rhetoric.
