Two Texas Teachers Accused Of Giving Preschoolers ‘Sleepy Stickers,’ Placed On Leave

Two teachers from Northgate Crossing Elementary School in Spring, Texas, are under investigation after being accused of distributing melatonin-laced “sleepy stickers” to preschool students during nap time. Parents became alarmed when children began describing the stickers as aids to help them sleep, raising concerns about the safety and well-being of their children.

Lisa Luviano, one of the concerned parents, reported that her daughter brought home a sticker on September 24, saying it was given by her teacher to help her sleep. Luviano researched the sticker and found it to be similar to adult melatonin patches sold online. When she confronted school officials, she discovered that other children had reportedly received the same stickers.

Another parent, Melissa Gilford, confirmed that her child had also referred to receiving a “sleepy sticker.” Additionally, Najala Abdullah noticed significant behavioral changes in her son, who had stopped eating and was crying frequently, leading her to suspect the stickers were to blame.

Parents grew increasingly frustrated with the school’s lack of communication, stating that they were only formally informed of the investigation two weeks after the incident. The Spring Independent School District (ISD) later placed the two teachers and two paraprofessionals on administrative leave while the investigation continues.

In a statement, Spring ISD reiterated its commitment to student safety, highlighting that no staff member is permitted to administer medications or supplements without proper authorization. The police department is actively investigating the matter, and the community is waiting for further developments.
