US Hemorrhaging Full-Time Jobs As Part-Time Positions Skyrocket

The U.S. labor market is undergoing a significant shift, with full-time jobs being replaced by part-time positions at an alarming rate. In August alone, 438,000 full-time jobs were lost, while 527,000 part-time roles were added, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This trend has sparked concerns about the long-term health of the American workforce under the Biden-Harris administration.

Former President Donald Trump criticized the administration, calling the loss of full-time jobs a “sign of economic decline.” He pointed out that part-time jobs generally pay less and lack the benefits that many American families rely on. Trump has argued that these policies are undermining the financial security of millions of American workers.

E.J. Antoni of the Heritage Foundation agreed, noting that employers often turn to part-time workers in times of economic uncertainty. “The loss of full-time jobs is a red flag for the economy, indicating that businesses are uncertain about the future,” Antoni said. He warned that this shift could be a precursor to a recession.

While the Biden administration has celebrated its record of creating 16 million jobs since taking office, critics are quick to point out that the quality of those jobs is just as important as the quantity. With inflation continuing to rise and full-time employment opportunities dwindling, many Americans are struggling to maintain their standard of living.
