Vance Blasts DA Bragg Over Trump Charges Says Prosecutors Can’t Identify Specific Crimes

In a Sunday interview on CNN’s “State of the Union” Senator JD Vance (R-OH) accused New York District Attorney Alvin Bragg of targeting former President Donald Trump solely because of his 2024 presidential run claiming that prosecutors have failed to pinpoint any specific crimes committed by the former president. Vance argued that Trump is facing differential treatment due to his political aspirations.

“The only thing Alvin Bragg the New York prosecutors team thinks that Donald Trump did wrong is he ran for president in 2024 and he looks to be on the cusp of victory” Vance asserted to host Dana Bash. He maintained that prosecutors “can’t even identify what it is that Donald Trump did” and have merely alleged “a paperwork violation in service to a crime” without specifying the crime itself.

Vance also implied that the charges against Trump serve as a distraction from President Joe Biden’s record in office which he described as a failure. The former president was recently indicted in New York City for allegedly falsifying business records a case that Trump has consistently labeled a politically driven “scam.”

Last month on Truth Social Trump denounced the trial as a “planned and coordinated witch hunt” that could have been initiated years ago but was instead strategically launched to coincide with his presidential campaign. He accused prosecutors of delaying the charges until “right in the middle of my presidential campaign against the worst and most incompetent president ever crooked Joe Biden.”

Trump’s former attorney Michael Cohen who allegedly paid adult film actress Stormy Daniels $130,000 from his personal funds in 2016 is slated to take the stand in the trial this week. A letter obtained last year asserted that “neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump campaign was a party to the transaction with Ms. Clifford and neither reimbursed Mr. Cohen for the payment directly or indirectly.
