Actress and co-host of “The View” Whoopi Goldberg has doubled down on her claim that the Holocaust had nothing to do with race in a new interview she did to promote her latest film about civil rights martyr Emmett Till.
The initial claim led to Goldberg — whose real name is Caryn Elaine Johnson — being suspended from her ABC show back in February.
Despite issuing an apology for her initial claims, Goldberg is now doubling down — telling The Times of London why she does not believe that Jews are part of a unique race, asserting that just because Hitler claimed he was killing them to create a “master race” that does not make it true.
“Remember who they were killing first,” she told the newspaper. “They were not killing racial; they were killing physical. They were killing people they considered to be mentally defective. And then they made this decision.”
I'm beginning to think that Holocaust education is not enough to change the Antisemitic views that are deeply ingrained in many celebrities with large platforms. https://t.co/mnWSgnD2Ah

Goldberg also attempted to clarify her claims about Jewish people not being a race, using a metaphor to describe how she believes her words were misconstrued.
“It doesn’t change the fact that you could not tell a Jew on a street,” she said. “You could find me. You couldn’t find them. That was the point I was making.”
“But you would have thought that I’d taken a big old stinky dump on the table, butt naked,” Goldberg added.
In February, the left-wing talk show co-host sparked outrage when she claimed the Holocaust — in which six million Jews were killed — was not about race, but instead was a case of “white-on-white violence.”
“Let’s be truthful about it: the Holocaust isn’t about race,” she said. “It’s not about race. It’s not about race. It’s not about race. It’s about man’s inhumanity to man. That’s what it’s about.”
When her co-hosts tried to push back and dispute her claims, Goldberg just kept digging herself deeper into a hole.
“These are two white groups of people,” she said. “You are missing the point. The minute you turn it into race, it goes down this alley. Let’s talk about it for what it is, it’s how people treat each other.”

In a statement released on February 1, ABC President Kim Godwin announced Goldberg’s suspension from the network for her comments.
“Effective immediately, I am suspending Whoopi Goldberg for two weeks for her wrong and hurtful comments,” Godwin’s statement read. “While Whoopi has apologized, I’ve asked her to take time to reflect and learn about the impact of her comments. The entire ABC News organization stands in solidarity with our Jewish colleagues, friends and communities.”
The network has not yet released a statement on Goldberg’s latest comments.
