Fence Erected At Capitol Ahead Of State Of The Union Sparks Outrage

While there is a barrier missing from the southern border, the Biden administration wasted no time in erecting a large metal fence around the Capitol building ahead of the State of the Union address to anticipate “free Palestine” protests.

The fence was approved on Friday by the Capitol Police Board.

“Out of an abundance of caution, and in conjunction with the United States Secret Service, a plan has been approved to put up the inner-perimeter fence around the Capitol building for the State of the Union Address,” Capitol Police Chief Thomas Manger said in a statement.

According to U.S. Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi, a heavy law enforcement presence is expected for the State of the Union, designated as a National Special Security Event, the highest security status the federal government can issue to an event.

Due to the massive pressure put on the Biden administration by leftists demanding that it stop supporting Israel’s war in Gaza, law enforcement is prepared for demonstrators protesting outside the area.

“We are aware of some potential demonstrations in the area,” U.S. Capitol Police told the Washington Examiner in a statement. “Physical security is part of a comprehensive security plan with our federal and local law enforcement partners. Together it is our job to maximize the safety of all of the attendees and to ensure the event goes as smoothly as possible.”
While fences were quickly put up to surround the Capitol, Republicans have noticed and have been quick to call out the administration’s hypocrisy. Many shared their frustrations about the border on X.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) wrote that it took just 12 hours for them to put up a fence as protection from themselves. Meanwhile, America’s southern border is wide open and exposed.

Rep. Bill Posey (R-FL) noted that the situation would be “funny if it wasn’t so sad.” He called out the fact that a fence could be put up to protect one person but not for the safety of millions of Americans.

Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) pointed out how Biden didn’t “hesitate” to protect himself against protestors.

Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) called the maneuver the stupidest way to spend money.

X user “Silent Silas” wrote that Biden is now running scared of his party. This time, it’s the liberals that appear dangerous.
