Shortly after Donald Trump wrapped up his domination of Super Tuesday, he gave a victory speech celebrating his successful run toward becoming the de facto GOP nominee.
Unfortunately for supporters of the former president who might have been watching MSNBC Tuesday night, they never had a chance to see his speech.
The network cut to commercial at the urging of MSNBC star anchor Rachel Maddow, who insisted that she was standing up for journalistic integrity and telling the truth. She even went so far as to call her network “irresponsible” for trying to air Trump’s victory speech.
This isn’t the first time this has happened with Maddow and other MSNBC anchors. They also took a similar course of action in January when Trump won the Iowa caucuses.

In either case, the reaction on social media to Maddow’s comments was harsh. Some even labeled her a fascist for trying to silence President Trump.
On the other side of the political spectrum, Fox News anchor Sean Hannity pointed out several lies Maddow has told over her journalism and television career.
The biggest conspiracy theory that Maddow peddled that turned out to be false, was that Vladimir Putin and the Russian government interfered with the 2016 election, and that Donald Trump was a Russian asset.
Thanks to lies like this from its most visible anchors, mainstream media’s credibility is seemingly at an all-time low. People don’t trust them. When they routinely cut away from Donald Trump’s speeches and roundly criticize him at every turn, viewers aren’t likely to believe them even when they do try to tell the truth. They’ve become The Boy Who Cried Wolf.
Believe it or not, this has hurt Biden’s campaign strategy. In fact, the networks are often doing the opposite of what his campaign has been urging them to do: Draw attention to the former president’s public statements and rhetoric as the election season heats up.
If Biden’s campaign wants to use Trump’s speeches and rhetoric against him to help the incumbent president win a second term, MSNBC, CNN and others must first go back to basics.
The mainstream media needs to do what their predecessors in journalism used to do. They need to let Trump speak without interrupting him, present a fact-based opposing viewpoint, and then let viewers make their own judgments and do their own research. But they refuse to do this, which could very well contribute to costing President Biden the White House on Nov. 5.
