Massachusetts Allocates $10.5M To Resettle 400 Illegal Alien Families

Democrat-run Massachusetts has allocated a staggering $10.5 million of taxpayer money to fund eight resettlement agencies’ efforts to move 400 illegal alien families out of homeless shelters by the end of 2024.

Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey (D) previously called on her constituents to take unvetted illegal aliens into their homes — now she is taking their tax money to find housing for illegal aliens, ignoring the thousands of homeless Americans, including veterans.

In a statement, Healey claimed that these resettlement agencies “have long played a critical role in helping families in Massachusetts get connected with housing, jobs, and other critical resources.”

“We’re grateful to the Legislature for providing this funding to expand their efforts so that we can meet the needs of families in our emergency assistance shelter system. Our communities and our economy will be stronger because of this partnership,” she added.

The one-year pilot program, which is the first of its kind in the United States, aims to relieve the massive burden on emergency shelters created by the sanctuary state’s enticement of illegal immigration and President Joe Biden’s open border policies. The historic influx of illegal aliens into the U.S. has left shelters overcrowded across the country and resources stretched thin.

Emergency shelters throughout Massachusetts, especially in Boston, have been consistently operating at maximum capacity thanks to the border crisis. The problem has gotten so bad that a section of the Boston-Logan International Airport was turned into a temporary shelter for illegal aliens. The government has also forced citizens out of local businesses to make room for illegal aliens, including turning a recreation center in Roxbury into an emergency shelter despite outrage from local residents.

According to the Boston Herald, the new program is similar to the Biden administration’s resettlement efforts for individuals coming to the U.S. from Afghanistan and Ukraine.

The resettlement agencies contracted by the Massachusetts government have been tasked with finding apartments and placing illegal alien families into them, as well as helping them take American jobs to ensure they are “self-sufficient,” according to Jeff Thielman, CEO of the International Institute of New England, a resettlement agency that mainly works with Haitian illegal aliens.

Speaking with the Boston Herald, Thielman pointed out that the agencies are “not getting the same amount of money the Afghans got, or even the Ukrainians got.”

“What the state is saying is, ‘Okay, well, the federal government is not doing what it did for Ukrainians and Afghans and we’re going to do the best we can with the resources we have so we’re going to let the resettlement agencies use their model and apply it to this new population,’” he added.

Meanwhile, Massachusetts residents have become frustrated with the government’s preferential treatment of illegal aliens at the expense of the safety, security and well-being of actual citizens. Just last month, residents of one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Boston expressed outrage over the city’s plan to turn an office building into a makeshift emergency shelter to house illegal aliens.
