Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) stepped into a minefield last week when she gave her endorsement to President Joe Biden and his run for reelection in 2024.
Interviewed on “Pod Save America,” the Democrat was presented with Biden along with primary challengers RFK Jr. and Marianne Williamson. When asked if she would back Biden for a second term, she responded, “I believe, given that field, yes.”
That was hardly a ringing endorsement for her party’s incumbent president, but that was enough to set off other leftists who disagree.
AOC added her belief that Biden has performed “quite well, given the limitations that we have. I do think that there are ebbs and flows.”
As very few Americans share her rosy impression of the president, it should not be surprising that members of her own party were outraged. Briahna Joy Gray, the press secretary for Bernie Sanders’ 2020 run for the White House, lashed out at the “Squad” member.

Gray called her remark “a betrayal of progressive interests.” She further tweeted criticism that included her former boss, noting that Sanders indicated his support for Biden in 2024 as well.
She added that both are “out of step” and that the majority of Democrats want the president put out to pasture.
“Neoliberal Tears,” a progressive social media account, shrieked that leftists are not close to being harsh enough on AOC as they should be. “Endorsing a war criminal the day he sent more cluster bombs to a war zone needs to make it really clear she’s a psychopath.”
The left is turning on their own, and it is a beautiful sight.
Activist Laura Fielding used a derogatory expletive to describe the current Democratic Party and exclaimed that she left it behind.
Leftist comedian and podcast host Graham Elwood chimed in his displeasure with Ocasio-Cortez’s half-hearted endorsement of Biden. “Yes, Biden has done a good job! (If you like drilling permits on federal land and cluster bombs…).”
AOC is a difficult person to defend, but it should be noted that she only plugged Biden against the current field. In other words, if someone better comes along then she would reconsider, which is not exactly the way most people want their supporters to feel.
Still, it is amusing to see progressives eat their own.
