The mainstream media is busy carrying water for anyone who could be a thorn in former President Donald Trump’s side. Now they are frantically encouraging former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie in his futile bid for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
That despite the fact that he garners a paltry 3% of support from likely GOP primary voters, according to RealClearPolitics.
Christie rates behind self-help author Marianne Williamson and far behind environmental lawyer Robert F. Kennedy Jr. But that doesn’t matter to Biden’s media cronies, who continue to waste ink and bandwidth on defending the ardent Trump foe.
The former governor was once hailed as the future of the party, but that’s before he turned on Trump. Though many on the left long to see Christie succeed — just to spite the former president — he barely registers with actual Republicans.
Trump continues to dominate the field to the point that it is hardly even a race.
That reality, however, does not stop outlets like Politico from declaring Christie’s to be “the most interesting candidacy in the Republican primary, and the most important.”

All the while, fully half of Democratic primary voters would rather see virtually anyone at the top of the party’s ticket than Joe Biden. But major outlets will not give attention to RFK Jr. or Williamson in their bids to unseat the incumbent.
Instead, they focus on Christie simply because he is an enemy of Trump.
The former governor was an ABC contributor and used that platform to garner whatever support he enjoys for his current presidential campaign. This likely produced a favorable impression in the leftist media for Christie.
Mainstream journalists have long harbored a fascination with moderate Republicans. They cozy up to middling GOP lawmakers such as Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) as a way of proving that they are unbiased and that the media is a level playing field.
Which, of course, is a joke. These leftists would never actually support even Romney in a serious election. Instead, these left-leaning GOP members are propped up as a Trojan Horse to undermine the conservative strength of the party.
The liberal media does not care about Christie in the slightest except as a foil for Trump. As long as there is an “R” beside his last name, he is the enemy. The reality is they currently find him useful for soundbites attacking the presumptive 2024 Republican nominee. Nothing more.
